Vol. 469 No. 7

Written Answers. - School Sanitary Facilities.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

31 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Education the number of primary and second-level schools with inadequate sanitary facilities; the plans, if any, she has for the refurbishment of such facilities; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18088/96]

The adequacy of sanitary facilities in primary and second level schools is primarily a matter for the school management in each case. Consequently my Department does not have the type of detailed information sought by the Deputy.

Where schools apply to my Department for specific grant-aid to improve sanitary facilities, the applications are given a high priority, within the available capital resources.
