Vol. 469 No. 7

Written Answers. - Education Legislation.

John Ellis

Question:

64 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Education the proposals, if any, she has under the proposed new Education Bill to introduce a minimum standard of education; and her views on such a concept. [18082/96]

The White Paper on Education, Charting our Education Future, states:

Students are entitled to the highest possible standards of teaching and to be facilitated in the attainment of the highest quality of learning. The State should ensure and promote the highest standard of education and learning for all.

These principles will be reflected in forthcoming legislation which is currently being drafted.
