Written Answers. - Disabled Persons' Training Programmes.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

95 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Health the current training places and programmes available for people with disabilities in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18198/96]

Limerick East): The North-Western Health Board Currently provides 250 training places and Rehabcare provides 40 places for people with disabilities in County Donegal.

Funding for training is provided from the European Social Fund, ESF, and the Exchequer ESF training programmes for people with disabilities are divided into three different levels, Level 1 — Foundation Training, Level 2 — Introductory Work Skills and Level 3 — Skilled Training while the Training Opportunities Programme, TOPS, which is funded by my Department, provides pre-vocational training for people with disabilities.

In addition to the above, people from Donegal avail of training places provided by the health board in Sligo and by other centres outside the health board region.
