Vol. 470 No. 1

Written Answers. - Drainage Works.

John Ellis

Question:

136 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Finance when work will commence on the Arrow-Owenmore drainage works in County Sligo. [18511/96]

The Office of Public Works has commissioned a firm of consultants to investigate the feasibility of carrying out drainage works which might alleviate localised flooding in the Owenmore river catchment, including consideration of the environmental and ecological impacts of any proposed works. The report, which is expected later this month, will be given prompt consideration by the Office of Public Works with a view to arranging for the earliest possible implementation of its recommendations. The question of funding and who will carry out whatever works are to be implemented will be addressed as part of that consideration process.
