Question:

296 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the total amount of funding provided in Galway city and county for airport developments, by his Department in each of the years from 1987 to date. [18304/96]

(1) Capital Grants:

Mainly for development of the terminal building.
(2) Marketing/Promotion (Exchequer Funds):

The Government has approved payment of an amount not exceeding £40,000 in respect of 1996.
(3) Additional Funds:
In addition to the above mentioned grants, an Exchequer funded Essential Air Services Programme, which includes the Galway/Dublin link commenced in January 1995 and will continue for a period of three years.
