Vol. 470 No. 3

Written Answers. - Remediation Service.

Noel Treacy

Question:

116 Mr. N. Treacy asked the Minister for Education if she will make a special facility available to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; if so, when; the services to be provided; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18964/96]

I am not in a position at present to allocate additional remedial teaching hours to primary schools. When I am next in a position to extend the remediation service, the needs of the pupil in question will receive every consideration.

I have asked my Department's primary inspectorate to examine the case in question with a view to determining whether support from the visiting teacher service might be possible and appropriate in this case.
