Vol. 470 No. 3

Written Answers. - Naturalisation Fees.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

126 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Justice if she will waive citizenship, naturalisation fees for the many former Bosnian refugees who are applying for Irish citizenship. [18984/96]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that I have recently introduced the Irish Nationality and Citizenship Regulations, 1996, S.I. No. 291 of 1996, which provide for the waiving of the statutory fees for naturalisation for programme refugees. The Bosnians, who were admitted to Ireland on foot of various Government decisions since 1992 will, accordingly, have any fees due on foot of a decision to naturalise, waived.
