Vol. 470 No. 3

Written Answers. - Defence Forces Recruitment.

Mary O'Rourke

Question:

147 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Defence the target number of intake into the Defence Forces for each of the four Army commands following the recent public advertisements; if interviews will be held for each eligible applicant; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18990/96]

The deployment of members of the Permanent Defence Force, including recruits, is a matter for the military authorities in the light of the requirements of the force generally.

Applicants for enlistment in the Permanent Defence Force under the current intake will be invited to attend for interview provided that they meet the eligibility criteria laid down.
