Vol. 470 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Dublin Dump Closure.

Ray Burke

Question:

149 Mr. R. Burke asked the Minister for the Marine if he will agree to meet with residents of the Baleally/Newhaggard area of Lusk, County Dublin, who wish to discuss with him the urgent need for the closure of the Baleally dump. [18982/96]

Officials of my Department have met residents of the area on a number of occasions in connection with the licence of foreshore lands to Fingal County Council for the landfill site at Baleally, County Dublin. They were most recently met on my behalf on 1 March last.

The local authority has commissioned an environmental impact study on the subject and this is due to be delivered next April. I understand that local residents will be consulted before the draft EIS is finalised.

I will of course consider very carefully any requests from the local residents, for further meetings.
