Question:

40 Mr. O'Dea asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the pattern of revenue growth in tourism from the French market since 1989. [18730/96]

It is estimated on the basis of CSO statistics and Bord Fáilte surveys of overseas travellers that revenue from French tourists in 1995 was about £84 million, an increase of 129 per cent over the £36.7 million achieved in 1989. This represents an annual average increase of 16 per cent per annum over the past six years.
