Vol. 470 No. 3

Written Answers. - Tallaght (Dublin) College Site.

Chris Flood

Question:

107 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Education if a suitable site has been agreed to accommodate Coláiste de hÍde, Tallaght, Dublin 24; if so, when the new school building will be available for occupation; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [18876/96]

The site owned by the Department at Tymon Park, Tallaght, Dublin 24, has been designated as a suitable location for Coláiste de hÍde. I understand that the site is at present being used by the South Dublin County Council as an amenity area.

The Department and the County Dublin vocational education committee are negotiating with the county council with a view to ensuring that permanent accommodation is provided for the school as quickly as possible. A meeting took place recently between officials of South Dublin County Council and my Department to expedite the matter. However, at this stage it is not possible to say when construction will commence or when the building will be ready for occupation.
