Vol. 470 No. 8

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Ivor Callely

Question:

55 Mr. Callely asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs the total cost of non-civil or public service staff attached to his office in 1995; the anticipated costs in 1996; and if he will give the comparative figures for each of the years 1987 and 1988. [20000/96]

Details of costs for staff in my offices at the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Office of the Tánaiste are matters of public record. To assist the Deputy, I would refer him to my replies of 24 January 1995 to Question No. 58 of 7 June, 1995 to Question No. 66 of 19 October 1995 to Question No. 59 of 14 February 1996 to Question No. 62 of 6 March 1996 to Question No. 56 of 25 July 1996 to Question No. 45 and of 22 October 1996 to Questions Nos. 58, 67 and 69.

The costs of non-civil or public service staff employed in the Office of the Minister for Foreign Affairs for 1987 and 1988 are not readily available and it would not be possible to provide the required information in the time available. However, the salaries of all ministerial appointments made during this period were set in accordance with Department of Finance regulations.
