Vol. 470 No. 8

Written Answers. - National Agreement.

Mary Wallace

Question:

80 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for Health if he will include the recommendations of the report of the Review Group on Services for People with Physical and Sensory Disabilities in any new agreement between the Government and the social partners which will follow the Programme for Competitiveness and Work in the coming months. [20172/96]

Limerick East): As the Deputy knows, any agreement between the Government and social partners on a programme to follow the Programme for Competitiveness and Work will require the support of all parties to the negotiations. These negotiations are at an early stage.

The Government is committed to developing services for people with physical and sensory disabilities. The Health Strategy Shaping a Healthier Future has been endorsed by the Government in the programme, A Government of Renewal, and forms the basis of its health care programme. The strategy includes a four-year action plan which refers specifically to the development of services for people with physical and sensory disabilities, subject to the recommendations of the report of the review group.
