Vol. 470 No. 8

Written Answers. - Youghal (Cork) Sports Hall.

Helen Keogh

Question:

106 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Education if she will proceed with the building of a sports hall in Youghal, County Cork, which is to be shared between CBS Youghal and Coláiste Eoin. [20152/96]

The accommodation requirements of the post-primary schools in Youghal, including the need for physical education facilities, have been examined by my Department in consultation with the school authorities. The schedules of accommodation for both schools have been agreed and a PE hall is included on the schedule for Coláiste Eoin, Youghal. This hall will be used as a shared facility between both schools.

My Department is currently in negotiation with the CBS in Youghal concerning the cost limits set for the project and it is hoped that the architectural planning of these extensions will commence shortly.

At this stage, it is not possible to say when construction will commence.
