Written Answers. - Templeogue (Dublin) School.

Eamon Walsh

Question:

175 Mr. E. Walsh asked the Minister for Education the progress, if any, made in building a physical education hall for St. Mac Dara's School, Templeogue, Dublin 6; the reason for the delays to date in this project; the timescale for this facility; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [20366/96]

A planning and briefing meeting concerning the provision of a physical education hall for St. Mac Dara's School was held on 25 October 1996. Further to discussions at this meeting, the vocational education committee's design team were instructed to incorporate certain revisions. When this has been done, the project will proceed to the next stage which is the developed sketch scheme. Further stages of planning to be completed by the vocational education committee's design team include detail design-contract documents and tender report. The question of providing capital funds for building will not arise until the planning process has been fully completed. The Department has instructed the design team to ensure that every effort is made to have the planning of the extension completed as quickly as possible.
