Vol. 471 No. 1

Written Answers. - Central Bank's Role.

Seán Haughey

Question:

34 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Finance if he envisages a role for the Central Bank following the recent serious incidents (details supplied) within the Irish brokering industry. [16745/96]

The Central Bank of Ireland and the Minister for Enterprise and Employment are the supervisory authorities for investment business firms for the purposes of the Investment Intermediaries Act, 1995. I have no proposals to extend the role of the Central Bank in this regard.
