Vol. 471 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Lottery Funding.

Ivor Callely

Question:

21 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance the allocation of moneys to Departments from the national lottery in 1995; the comparative figures for 1989; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20685/96]

The information requested is given in the following tables. They comprise the Appendix on national lottery-funded allocations in the Revised Estimates Volumes for 1996 and 1990 which show the outturns for 1995 and 1989 respectively.

The precise amounts spent are shown in the Appropriation Accounts for the years in question, copies of which are available in the Oireachtas Library. These may vary slightly from the figures mentioned above.

Because of changes over the years in Departmental responsibilities and in the tabulation of national lottery-funded expenditure, it would be difficult to establsh exact comparisions in every case between the position in 1989 and in 1995 but the Deputy will note that the total spending increased from £47,685 million to £83.342 million or by 74.6 per cent.
