Vol. 471 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Donegal Health Centres.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

29 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Health the current position in relation to the provision of a health centre in a village (details supplied) in County Donegal. [20711/96]

Limerick East): As the Deputy will be aware the provision of health centres is a matter for the health boards in the first instance.

The North Western Health Board has informed me that there is no health centre in Carrigans, County Donegal. However, there are clinics at both St. Johnston, which is three miles from Carrigans, and at Newtowncunningham, which is six miles away.

The board has recently appointed a GP in the area and is looking at the possibility of a new purpose built health centre in St. Johnston to cater for the St. Johnston/Carrigans area.
