Vol. 471 No. 3

Written Answers. - Equal Status Legislation.

Brendan Smith

Question:

34 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the concerns expressed by a number of groups in relation to the proposed Equal Status Bill; the current stage of preparation of the Bill; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20736/96]

I have received submissions from, or had meetings with, a wide range of interested parties about the proposed equal status legislation. The views and concerns put forward by various groups have been noted and will be fully taken into account in the finalisation of the Bill. I hope to have the Bill published during the current Dáil session.
