Smith asked the Minister for Education if she will list the applications from County Cavan being considered for financial assistance under the major facilities scheme; the stage of examination of each application; when approvals will issue; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Grants allocated to date under my Department's major facilities sports scheme have been listed in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 101 on Thursday, 31 October 1996.
The Deputy may be aware that some applicants for grant assistance regard the information provided to my Department as confidential. In these circumstances, it would not be appropriate for me to list the applications received from my county unless specific clearance was received from the organisations concerned to do so.
