Vol. 471 No. 3

Written Answers. - Connolly Station-Maynooth Railway Line.

Robert Molloy

Question:

76 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the plans, if any, he has to provide funding for the double tracking of the Connolly-Maynooth line as recommended by the DTI; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20664/96]

The railway line between Connolly Station and Maynooth comprises double track between Connolly Station and Clonsilla and single track between Clonsilla and Maynooth. The Dublin Transportation Initiative recommended doubling of the track between Clonsilla and Maynooth to facilitate the provision of more frequent rail services on the Maynooth line. The up-to-date position in the matter is set out in my reply to Question No. 218 on 8 October 1996.
