Vol. 471 No. 4

Written Answers - Urban Renewal Areas.

Eoin Ryan

Question:

132 Mr. E. Ryan asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the adjustments for the areas designated for urban renewal in Bray, Clonmel, Cork, Dublin, Sligo, Tralee and Wexford, which he made on 22 September 1995. [21020/96]

Between the phasing out of the previous urban renewal scheme and the coming into operation of the current scheme, certain problems and anomalies emerged, including cases where boundaries of designated areas cut through property in single ownership, thereby obstructing redevelopment, cases where there were strong grounds for including small areas contiguous to designated areas; and cases where developments had made good progress, but had failed to meet the deadline under the previous scheme.

Accordingly, a small number of areas were designated in Bray, Clonmel, Cork, Dublin, Sligo, Tralee and Wexford. Details of the areas involved are set out in the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Designated Areas) Order, 1995 (S.I. No. 247 of 1995).
