Vol. 471 No. 4

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Liam Aylward

Question:

164 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made for an immediate payment of a maintenance grant to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [20784/96]

I understand from Kilkenny Vocational Education Committee, the body entrusted with the administration of the European Social Fund aided maintenance grants scheme, that the student in question has been awarded a maintenance grant. Arrangements for the payment of ESF aided maintenance grants are a matter for the individual regional technical colleges. The Deputy should contact the relevant college where he is aware of specific incidents of delay in payment.

Question:

165 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Education if she will approve an application under the recreational facilities scheme by a club (details supplied); and when a grant will be paid to this club. [20785/96]

Grants under this scheme have recently been allocated and all available funds are now committed to these existing projects. In view of the relatively limited funds available for allocation and the very large number of applications received, I regret that it was not possible to include the project in question for grant assistance on this occasion. My Department is prepared to reconsider an application from the club concerned in the event of further funding becoming available in 1997.

John Connor

Question:

166 Mr. Connor asked the Minister for Education if she will have arrangements made for the payment of an outstanding portion of grant aid for the renewal of heating and electrical systems due to a school (details supplied) in County Roscommon. [20786/96]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the final instalment of the grant for electrical and heating works in the school referred to will issue within the next ten days.
