186 Dr. O'Hanlon asked the Minister for Education the number of second level pupils attending schools in counties Monaghan and Cavan in each of the years 1986 and 1996; the current average per capita spent nationally and in counties Cavan and Monaghan; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Information concerning pupil enrolments at second level for 1986 and 1996 in counties Cavan and Monaghan is set out in the following table. State expenditure, excluding capital expenditure, on a national per capita basis for the second level sector in 1995 was £2,225. However, per capita expenditure data is not readily available in my Department on a county basis.
