199 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the location of a new community school in west Waterford; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21040/96]

My Department's post primary building unit has agreed purchase terms with the CBS for the property in Lismore which will be the location for the new community school. As soon as the legal aspects of the transaction have been finalised, my Department will be in a position to commence with the architectural planning of this new facility.

Question:

200 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the amalgamation of primary schools in Lismore, County Waterford; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21041/96]

Agreement has been reached to amalgamate the two primary schools in Lismore. The timing of the amalgamation is dependent on the provision of an extenson to the Presentation Convent school. The planning of this extension is at an advanced stage.

The question of the level of additional classroom accommodation to be provided for the amalgamated school is being reviewed in the planning section of my Department at present, in the light of a request by the school authorities for an additional classroom. My Department will be in contact with the school authorities as soon as this review is completed.
