Vol. 471 No. 4

Written Answers - Youth Diversion Projects.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

237 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Justice the locations and types of projects which are covered by the youth diversion schemes as referred to by her in her reply to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 147 to 150 of 6 November 1996. [21075/96]

As I have previously stated, the youth diversion projects funded by my Department are targeted at specific large high density urban areas where there is a combination of a large young population, high unemployment and a lack of basic amenities. The projects have a very particular focus and are directed at young people who are either involved in or who are most at risk of becoming involved in crime.

The projects approved to date are located as follows:

Dublin

Ronanstown, Tallaght, Blanchardstown and Cherry Orchard.

Cork

Knocknaheeny/Hollyhill, Mahon.

Waterford

Ballybeg/Larchville/Lisduggan.

Limerick

Moyross, Southill.
