Vol. 471 No. 4

Written Answers - Hospital Waiting Lists.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

53 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Health when a person (details supplied) in County Kildare will be operated on to have his adenoids and tonsils removed at Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Dublin 2 in view of the fact that this person is in grave discomfort and pain; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20757/96]

Limerick East): Inquiries have been made from Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin, in relation to the child concerned. At present the hospital is unable to provide an exact date for admission but expect that it will be in early 1997.

The scheduling of surgery is the clinical decision of the consultant concerned. Should the parents of the child concerned feel that the child's condition has deteriorated they should contact their general practitioner who would be in the best position to take up the matter with the consultant directly.
