131 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for the Environment when the tender in respect of the extension of the Ballyjamesduff regional water supply scheme to Mountnugent, County Cavan, will be approved; when construction work will commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21223/96]

Cavan County Council has received tenders for the Mountnugent section of the Ballyjamesduff regional water supply scheme. A report on these tenders is awaited by my Department. Subject to technical examination and clearance, I would expect construction of the scheme to commence early next year.
