The most recent and comprehensive information on waste quantities is contained in the National Waste Database Report 1995, published by the Environmental Protection Agency; a copy of the report is available in the Oireachtas Library.
The Environmental Protection Agency Report indicates that 0.3 per cent of waste plastic in the combined household and commercial waste streams was recovered in 1995. It is estimated that less than 0.1 per cent of such waste was recovered in 1993. No specific information is available in relation to plastic litter.
