25 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for Education the progress, if any, which has been made in relation to the preparation of the Youth Service Bill; when this legislation will be published; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [21305/96]
Considerable progress has been made in relation to the preparation of this legislation. The heads of the Bill were approved by the Government in July 1996 and work is at an advanced stage on the Bill in the office of the parliamentary draftsman. It is hoped that the Bill will be published by the end of 1996.
