Vol. 471 No. 8

Written Answers. - School Transport.

Noel Davern

Question:

85 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Education if an application for school transport to Clogheen national school, County Tipperary, has been received in her Department in respect of pupils (details supplied); if so, if the matter has been investigated; when the results of such an investigation will be completed; when the urgently needed transport will be provided; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22344/96]

I confirm that an application for school transport to Clogheen national school has been received and investigated by my Department. Under the terms of the primary school transport scheme, a minimum of ten eligible pupils would be required to set up a transport service. I understand only six of the pupils offering for transport in this case are eligible. I regret, therefore, that it is not open to my Department to establish a service as requested.
