Vol. 472 No. 1

Written Answers. - Funding for Traveller Community.

Mary Wallace

Question:

172 Miss M. Wallace asked the Minister for the Environment the funding, if any, which has been made available for the settlement or accommodation of the traveller community in Meath in 1996; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22400/96]

To date in 1996, a sum of £919,492 has been paid to Meath County Council in respect of the provision specifically for travellers of accommodation at three schemes in Navan and Trim and the employment of social workers engaged on the accommodation of travellers. The amount does not include payments in respect of the provision of any standard local authority housing, which may, in the normal way, have been let to traveller families.
