Vol. 472 No. 1

Written Answers. - Pension Adjustments.

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn

Question:

177 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for the Environment whether clerical and administrative grades in the local authority who have or are concluding agreements under the restructuring option of the Programme for Competitiveness and Work have been informed that certain adjustments to pensions will have to be considered; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22578/96]

Pending consideration of the pensions issue generally across the public service, I am not in a position to set out the effect of restructuring deals on pensions of former clerical and administrative staff of local authorities. Former members of local authority clerical and administrative grades have, however, received an increase of 1 per cent in their pension from 1 April 1994 in line with the interim increase which was given to serving officers in those grades who claimed the increase.
