Vol. 472 No. 1

Written Answers. - Breaking the Cycle Initiative.

Seán Haughey

Question:

202 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Education if she received a submission (details supplied) dated 10 June 1996, from the Dublin Inner City Partnership, Dublin 7, in respect of the inclusion of inner city schools in the Education Disadvantage, Breaking the Cycle initiative; if so, if she will give her response to this letter; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [22542/96]

I am aware of the submission to which the Deputy refers.

Officials of my Department have been in contact with the Dublin Inner City Partnership with a view to arranging a meeting to discuss the submission in question. I understand that a response from the partnership is currently awaited.

The Deputy may also wish to note that of the total of 25 primary schools selected for inclusion in the urban phase of the Breaking the Cycle initiative, 17 of the schools are located in the inner city area of Dublin.
