Vol. 472 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Kathleen Lynch

Question:

226 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Justice when she will replace the Garda sergeant who was transferred earlier in 1996 from Annagry Garda station, County Donegal. [22493/96]

The Garda authorities are responsible for the detailed deployment of Garda personnel and resources to individual areas. They have informed me that the present strength of Annagry Garda station is one garda following the transfer of a sergeant from there to Pettigo Garda station on 15 July 1996. They state that this transfer was effected in the overall context of deploying resources to optimum benefit and in the best interests of policing.

I understand from the Garda authorities that the needs of Annagry will be considered in conjunction with similar vacancies throughout the country when members of sergeant rank next become available for allocation.
