Éamon Ó Cuív

Question:

303 Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the number of farmers in County Galway who are due second payments under the REP scheme and have not received payments to date; and the number of such farmers who have been due second payments for over three months and over six months. [22511/96]

To date 761 farmers are eligible for second year payments under the REP scheme in County Galway. Of these, 352 have received their second year payments, 382 have not yet lodged valid applications and the remaining 27 are subject to a compliance check. Of those who have not yet received payment 19 are entitled to second year payments for over 6 months and 77 for over three months.

Of the 19, six have yet to lodge a valid application and the remainder are being checked for compliance. Of the 77, 50 have yet to lodge a valid application and the remainder are being checked for compliance.

Michael Ring

Question:

305 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will be paid her REP scheme premium in view of the fact that she urgently needs such funding. [22526/96]

The person concerned has applied for her first year payment under the REP scheme. Under the REP scheme a random 5 per cent prepayment check is carried out. This check is a detailed assessment of all aspects of the plan and includes an on farm inspection.

The applicant has been selected for this check, which will be carried out in the near future. In the event of a satisfactory outcome payment will issue as soon as possible thereafter.
