Vol. 472 No. 1

Request to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a notice of motion under Standing Order 31 from Deputy O'Donoghue.

I request leave to move the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to discuss a matter of the utmost urgency, namely, the failure of the Taoiseach and Minister for Justice to inform the House of the decision to reverse the Taoiseach's announcement that the Government had decided to establish the Courts Services Board on a non-statutory, interim basis and, further, to discuss the manner in which the Government decided to abandon the advice explicitly contained in the first report of the working group on reform of the courts, which was that that services board should not be established on an interim, non-statutory basis, which report also highlighted the need for the separation of the Judiciary and the Executive.

Having been fully considered, the matter is not deemed to be one contemplated by the relevant Standing Order. Therefore, leave cannot be granted to move the motion.
