Vol. 472 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Ellis

Question:

120 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Health the assistance, if any, he proposes to give to centres for independent living. [22507/96]

Limerick East): The Centre for Independent Living receives an annual grant of £50,000 through the Eastern Health Board towards its core funding. In addition, it received a once-off lottery grant of £60,000 in 1996 in respect of its vantastic service.

Centres for independent living have been established in several areas around the country. It is a matter for the local health board in each case to make a decision about providing funding to the local centre in its area.
