Vol. 472 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hepatitis C Compensation.

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn

Question:

124 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Health the reason a hepatitis C victim (details supplied) in County Galway has not been reimbursed in respect of bills for expenses submitted to the Blood Transfusion Service Board on 23 September, 3 October and 15 October 1996, in spite of the fact that several telephone calls have been made to the Blood Transfusion Service Board; when this person will receive this payment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22440/96]

Limerick East): I understand that the Blood Transfusion Service Board has now paid the claims which were submitted by the person concerned on 23 September, 3 October, 15 October and 13 November for allowable expenses under the ex-gratia expenses scheme. I understand that documentation to support the claims was received by the Blood Transfusion Service Board on 15 November 1996.
