Question:141 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Education the action, if any, she proposes to take regarding the problem of extra teaching staff for a school (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [23065/96]
Written Answers. - Teacher Appointments.
The staffing of a national school for a particular year is determined by the enrolment on 30 September of the previous year. The enrolment of the school referred to by the Deputy on 30 September 1995 was 11 pupils. This enrolment warrants a staffing of a principal only for the 1996-97 school year.
In view of a recent communication from the board of management of the school, I have requested a member of my Department's inspectorate to visit the school and report on the situation.
