Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

Micheál Martin

Question:

164 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education the number of staff assigned by grade to the examinations branch of her Department on 1 January in each of the years 1988, 1993, 1995 and 1996, including temporary clerical trainees, but excluding members of the inspectorate, computer operations staff, computer development staff, seasonal temporary clerical assistants and also excluding any officer job-sharing as filling a full-time post. [23130/96]

The processing of the examination results were computerised in 1989. This resulted in a reduction in staff numbers engaged on clerical work.
