189 Mr. M. Smith asked the Minister for Education if she will ensure that provision is made in this year's estimate for the commencement of the building of a new community college in 1997 in Roscrea, County Tipperary, in view of the co-operation given by the three secondary school authorities in Roscrea and the fact that the plans are now available. [23248/96]
I am aware of the need for the proposed new community college in Roscrea, County Tipperary, and I assure the Deputy that every effort is being made to progress the architectural planning process so that the new building may proceed at the earliest opportunity.
My Department's post primary building unit has recently approved the stage two, outline sketch scheme, and instructed the vocational education committee to proceed with the preparation of stage three, developed sketch scheme, documentation. At this stage it is not possible to determine when construction will commence on this project.
