Vol. 472 No. 3

Written Answers. - Jobstart Scheme.

Ivor Callely

Question:

245 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the number of people who have been targeted as suitable for the Jobstart scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23032/96]

As of 22 November 1996, 420 persons had been recruited under Jobstart. All unemployed people who are in receipt of an unemployment compensation payment or lone parents' allowance for more than three years, as well as those who are referred by the National Rehabilitation Board and travellers are eligible to be recruited under Jobstart. FÁS is currently targeting those who are due to leave community employment before the end of the year as suitable candidates for recruitment under Jobstart and are also working closely with social welfare offices to identify other suitable recruits.
