The provision of services to persons with a mental handicap in the area referred to by the Deputy is a matter in the first instance for the Western Health Board.
As the question of the overall allocation to my Department in 1997 is still under consideration, I am not yet in a position to give any indication of the level of funding which may be made available for services for persons with a mental handicap in 1997.
