20 Kathleen Lynch asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the current position regarding facilitating competition in the area of multi-channel and community televisions services; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23542/96]
The Deputy will be aware from the Government's programme that it seeks to allow competition in this area.
The scope for Government action depends on the decision to be made on the South Coast application which, in turn, depends on the technical analysis to come from the European Broadcasting Union consultants appointed to advise me.
I hope to have the consultants report in the near future and I will make a decision on the application as soon as possible thereafter.
