Vol. 472 No. 5

Written Answers. - Health Board Budgets.

Ivor Callely

Question:

44 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health the likely financial overruns on demand-led schemes; the likely total budget deficit for each health board at the end of 1996; and when the health boards will receive reimbursements due to overruns on demand-led schemes. [23565/96]

Limerick East): It is very likely that the community drug demand-led schemes will require additional funding this year and the figures relating to this area are being finalised by my Department. In regard to the overall financial position of health boards, it is impossible with absolute certainty to predict at this point what excess expenditure might exist for health boards at the end of this year. However, additional funding has been sought for agencies as part of a Supplementary Estimate for 1996 and this will be presented to the Select Committee on Social Affairs on 11 December.
