Vol. 472 No. 5

Written Answers. - Higher Education Grants.

Micheál Martin

Question:

58 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Education if she will award a grant to a person (details supplied) in Dublin 6 who is completing her final year of a physiotherapy degree at Manchester Health Care Trust. [23551/96]

Other than in the case of second chance students, grants under the higher education grants scheme are not payable in respect of a second period of attendance at the same level of a course approved for the purposes of the scheme. As the student referred to by the Deputy already holds a science degree from Trinity College Dublin, she is not eligible for a maintenance grant in respect of the physiotherapy degree course she is pursuing at Manchester Health Care Trust.
