Vol. 472 No. 8

Written Answers. - Health Inspectors' Dispute.

Noel Ahern

Question:

111 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the specific areas in the tourism sector which are being seriously affected by the work to rule of environmental health inspectors. [24247/96]

Hotels, guesthouses and holiday hostels applying for registration under the Tourist Traffic Acts, 1939-95 must be approved under the food hygiene regulations and such approval is a prerequisite for registration. Restaurants applying for special restaurant licences under the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 1988 must also be approved. Processing of individual applications from hotels, guesthouses etc., and restaurants, however, falls within the day to day responsibilities of Bord Fáilte and its authorised subcontractors.
