Vol. 472 No. 8

Written Answers. - Funding of College Courses.

Helen Keogh

Question:

86 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the recommendations of the Commission on the Status of People with Disabilities that her Department fund courses such as the pre-university and college course at Roslyn Park College; and whether she intends to implement this recommendation in 1997. [24196/96]

I am aware of the particular recommendation of the Commission on the Status of People with Disabilities referred to by the Deputy. The Minister for Equality and Law Reform, Deputy Mervyn Taylor, has announced his intention to establish an interdepartmental task force to draw up an action plan based on the report, for submission to the Government. The implementation of the recommendations contained in the report will be considered by the interdepartmental task force, which will include representation from my Department.
