Question:

97 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Health whether in the ear hearing aids are currently covered under the entitlements of medical card holders. [24383/96]

Limerick East): Persons with medical cards are provided with hearing aids by the National Rehabilitation Board on behalf of health boards. To date, the aids provided have been the behind the ear type and, in future, in the ear hearing aids will be provided to persons with a medical card when they are deemed to be appropriate.
